Boise Cascade plans to invest US$7.955m to develop 7.5 acres in Westfield, Massachusetts and build an 85,000ft2 warehouse storage facility and a 12,000ft2 sales office. The company will create nine new jobs, and retain 79 jobs.

The investment backed by a five-year tax break, valued at US$226,057 from the City of Westfield. The EACC board awarded Boise Cascade US$67,500 in investment tax credits.

Boise Cascade Company distributes building materials including lumber, studs, plywood, and engineered lumber on a wholesale basis to lumberyards, home centres, industrial accounts, and other retail businesses across the country.

The company's Westfield branch, which opened in 1999, primarily serves customers in Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.

Boise's investment project is one of 17 approved by Massachusetts' Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC). These projects are expected to create 1,008 new jobs and spur approximately US$487.1m in private investment in the state.
