Combining secondhand and brand new panel manufacturing equipment is the order of the day. Cast-effective concepts meeting sophisticated demands are hard to resist, say Modul Systeme

Knowing the panel manufacturing business by heart, Modul Systeme, a German supplier of machinery and equipment for the panel manufacturing industry, says that it is focusing on customer satisfaction in various ways.

After more than 35 years in the business, Modul Systeme says it has obtained a thorough understanding of its customers' demands and requirements. Utilising this knowledge to the customers' advantage, Modul Systeme says it is offering customised solutions, ranging from the supply of individual machinery to complete production facilities, supported by a unique package of additional services.

The combination of secondhand and brand new equipment allows Modul to address customers who are looking for a flexible solution for their production, says the company.

“Be smart, buy secondhand” has been Modul’s motto right from the start and it suggests that the transfer of more than 135 complete plants worldwide shows it is true. Plants transferred include particleboard lines and OSB, MDF or cement bonded particleboard plants. Recently, it says, to mention just a few, a continuous particleboard line with a capacity of approximately 1,600m??/ day was supplied to a European customer; one continuous particleboard line with a capacity of around 1,300m??/day was supplied to the Middle East; one continuous MDF line was supplied to Asia; and an HPL multi-opening press line was delivered to Russia.

“Modul can source the best suitable machines and engineer them into a complete line, considering the client’s needs and his raw material supply,” says Michael Rupp, managing director of Modul Systeme. "Customers value Modul’s long-term experience and excellent contacts in the industry, because they can be sure to get what they are looking for. Modul’s experienced engineers carefully choose the most suitable machine for every customer."

When it comes to replacing a single machine, for instance a knife ring flaker which has broken down, it may be worthwhile having a look at Modul’s machinery store. In the small town of Springe, near Hannover in northern Germany, Modul Systeme operates one of the largest stores for secondhand panel manufacturing machinery worldwide. With as much as 8,000m?? of covered area, a substantial number of second hand machines – some of them already reconditioned – are available. Customers around the globe, including big players, trust in professionally reconditioned single machines supplied by Modul Systeme, says the company. Not only do they use these machines to increase existing production capacities, but also to reduce investment cost compared with brand new production facilities.

Talking of reconditioning, Modul Systeme says it offers mechanical warranties on the equipment within its scope of supply. This unique-selling point, it says, allows the company to undertake remedies in the event of any defects in material or workmanship.

In the unlikely event of a defect, repair or replacement is carried out quickly and flexibly at no additional cost to the customer. Individual machinery available in the Springe warehouse may include flakers, chippers, refiners, mills for fines, screens or glue blenders, not to forget short-cycle press lines and wide-belt sanding machines. “Visitors are welcome to have a look at what is on offer – just give us a call,” says Michael Rupp.

To make ends meet, it takes more than just supplying a machine. Additional services such as dismantling, coordination of packing, loading and shipping, engineering and implementation of new technologies into existing plants, refurbishment and re-erection, are all an important part of Modul’s daily business, assisting the customer in as many areas as he may wish, claims the company.

With its supply of individual machinery and complete production facilities, supported by a unique package of additional services and the combination of secondhand and brand new equipment, Modul Systeme says it gives the client state-of-the-art production facilities at budget prices.

At this year’s Ligna in Hannover, Modul Systeme (Hall 26, Stand D27) says it will provide the opportunity to discuss tailormade solutions for every challenge panel manufacturers might be confronted with. "Just following the motto 'Be smart, buy secondhand'”.
